Showtime adds Seth Rogen-produced series with Don Cheadle, Regina Hall

Sometimes you can have a little too much fun in the sun. When it’s time to take a break from the heat, chill out with these 10 cool summer TV shows.

Showtime will delve into the darkly comedic side of the infamous 1987 stock-market crash in “Black Monday,” a new series produced by Seth Rogen and “Happy Endings” creator David Caspe.

The 10-episode series, which purports to find the culprits behind the nation’s worst stock-market crash, features a top-notch cast including, Don Cheadle (who starred in Showtime’s own “House of Lies”), Andrew Rannells (“Girls”) and Regina Hall (“Girls Trip”).

According to the show’s description, “‘Black Monday’ takes us back to October 19, 1987 – aka Black Monday, the worst stock market crash in the history of Wall Street. To this day, no one knows who caused it … until now. It’s the story of how a group of outsiders took on the blue-blood, old-boys club of Wall Street and ended up crashing the world’s largest financial system, a Lamborghini limousine, Don Henley’s birthday party and the glass ceiling.”

Rogen and producing partner Evan Goldberg, who will serve as executive producers, directed the pilot. The series will premiere in 2019.

“‘Black Monday’ is a scathing comic commentary on the excess of the ’80s,” Showtime President David Nevins said in a statement accompanying the announcement. Cheadle, Rannells and Hall “lead a hilarious cast that takes on blue-blooded Wall Street as the Bad News Bears of Wall Street trading firms.”
