“The View” co-host Meghan McCain thinks Gwyneth Paltrow’s part-time living setup with her husband Brad Falchuk is “rich people stuff.”
After Gwyneth Paltrow shared her unconventional living situation with husband Brad Falchuk, it appears everyone is not a fan of her unique approach to married life.
The Goop founder, 46, revealed to The Sunday Times of London that she only lives with her TV producer husband part-time. Paltrow said Falchuk stays at her place four times a week and spends the other three nights at his own home nearby.
“All my married friends say that the way we live sounds ideal and we shouldn’t change a thing,” Paltrow said. “I don’t care about the haters. Haters are irrelevant to me.”
One of the naysayers happens to be Meghan McCain. While discussing the duo’s unconventional living situation on “The View” Monday, McCain dismissed it as “rich people stuff.”
“What if you can’t afford two houses? Come on, you guys,” she said.
‘Haters are irrelevant’: Gwyneth Paltrow defends unorthodox living situation with Brad Falchuk
McCain continued: “Everybody’s different…I don’t try and judge anybody else’s marriage because you don’t know what goes on and what works for people. But the rent alone would be enough to make me angry… so I probably wouldn’t do it.”
Fellow co-host Whoopi Goldberg defended Paltrow, saying, “I love it. I’ve done it. I don’t want anybody in my house.”
“You can come and cook, you can come and hang out, you can sleep (over) and then you gotta go home,” Goldberg said. “I don’t want your drawers on the bathroom floor!”
Co-host Sunny Hostin said she often debates on whether “Gwyneth Paltrow (is) just kind of strange or is she a visionary?” She added, “I’m sort of thinking maybe she’s a visionary.”
Hostin continued: “You got your man about three days a week, then you got your space, you’re not sharing your bathroom with anybody, you’re not cleaning up drawers on the floor. It’s not bad!”
Whether the outside world agrees with their living arrangement, it works for Paltrow and Falchuk, and that’s all that matters to the lovebirds.
“It’s like Brené Brown says: I’m not making this work for people who aren’t in the arena,” Paltrow told The Sunday Times. “Haters don’t mean anything to me because they are not my people.”
Paltrow and her “crazytown handsome” husband, as she puts it, married in a private, star-studded ceremony last September after getting engaged in January.
